Design Intent: A quaint, cosy cafe that hinges on the richness of the history of old Karachi with its numerous Irani cafes just known for their delicious meals and great conversations. The retro interior design blends elements from the past that reflect an earlier era within the metropolis. Documentation was done in the morning and at sunset to catch the range of light quality.

Classic wooden chairs with ornate carvings, with Ziarat white marble tops known for its beautiful veining and creamy white colour give a timeless appeal; adding a visually stunning contrast to the space. The terrazzo flooring, popular in the mid-20th century, offers a touch of nostalgia with its distinct speckled appearance.

Conduits were left exposed to embrace an industrial aesthetic, reminiscent of the city’s earlier infrastructure like older warehouse. The archaic switchboards further contribute to the retro atmosphere, with their vintage-style control panels featuring mechanical switch knobs.

Adding to the ambiance, a portrait of Mehdi Hasan, recreated by a local artist, hangs prominently on the wall. This portrait serves as a tell-tale symbol of the older era of this metropolis, paying homage to the cultural heritage and historical significance of the city.

A fusion of vintage and industrial styles, creates a unique and nostalgic atmosphere at this Café. The combination of these elements evokes a sense of charm, offering visitors a glimpse into the older era and fostering a unique and memorable experience within the space.
